Thanks for visiting my website! It’s
dedicated to my first book, NEW WORLD ORDER, and to my future books.
If you haven’t already done it, I hope you decide to buy a copy
of NEW WORLD ORDER—and I definitely hope you enjoy it and want to share
it with everyone you know.
NEW WORLD ORDER is
a collection of stories, with a couple of twists.
First, each story is set in a different country—the book takes
readers from the Americas
to Africa, Asia and all the way to inner Australia.
Second, the stories are interlinked by recurring characters and
by my own special invention: a vast enigmatic international corporation
that reaches across the globe.
(Think of Halliburton on steroids, restrained only by
imagination.)
The one rule I had
while writing NEW WORLD ORDER: I would set stories only in countries I
had physically visited. And,
with a single notable exception, I stuck to my guns.
So while events and characters (and a few place details) are
entirely fictional, the locations themselves are very real.
Since I never
expected to publish the book, I was free to work on it for fun, with
nothing more in mind than crafting entertaining stories.
Writing fiction turns out to be a great way to pass the hours on
an overnight flight; I highly recommend it, if you ever find yourself
stuck in some far-flung outpost, holding no currency and unable to speak
the local tongue.
I
wrote a lot of this book on airplanes and in hotels while traveling as a
contract consultant for a few big companies.
I had a damn good time—most of the time.
But skipping across continents has a dark side—it can be lonely
and frustrating, full of absurdities, and sometimes scary as hell.
That became especially true after 9/11, which made travel and the
simple fact of being an American abroad something altogether different
and darker. But that’s all in the
book.
